Biodestructors are microfungi that existed millions of years before humans and will likely outlive us. While humans fight against time, trying to preserve art, bodies, and memories, biodestructors remind us that everything must change and decay to be reborn. The film looks at human and fungal cultures and their distinct temporalities, as if through the lens of a microscope.
At its core, the film is about transformation, with microfungi as its metaphor. First, they consume our objects; later, they consume us. Yet, hope emerges through the microscope: in the magical world of biodestructors, decay destroys sadness, pain, and death.
