Vilis, 55, finds himself in a mysterious Cube—reminiscent of an old Soviet elevator. A voice over the intercom instructs him: “To reclaim your lost identity, exit through the red doors and return by the green.” Beyond the red doors, in a Vilnius frozen by the 2020 pandemic, his wife and three adult children face menacing challenges. Seeking to restore bonds severed in a forgotten past, Vilis must go beyond who he once was.
Kristijonas Vildžiūnas – scriptwriter and director. Born in 1970 in Vilnius, Lithuania.
In 1996 Vildžiūnas graduated from the Lithuanian Academy of Music, Faculty of Theatre and Film where he
studied film directing. Since 1995, Vildžiūnas has completed three short and five feature films – The Lease (Venice, official selection Upstream, 2002), You am I (Cannes, Un Certain Regard, 2006), Back to Your Arms (8 Lithuanian Film Academy Awards Silver Crane 2011), Seneca’s Day (Lithuania’s foreign-language Oscar submission 2016, Baltic Assembly Prize for the Arts 2016), Songs for a Fox (Black Nights, main competition, 2021).
