Eglė, the Queen of Serpents, is one of the best-known Lithuanian folk tales. In our interpretation of this story, the traditional narrative structure is abandoned in favour of exploring what might have driven the members of the protagonist's family to commit such a terrible crime. In other words, in this version of the tale, the central question is not what happened, but why it happened.

Tomas Mitkus, PhD, is an animation practitioner, lecturer, and researcher at VILNIUS TECH (Vilnius Gediminas Technical University). He has contributed to a wide range of live-action and animated television, feature film, advertising, comic book, and video game projects in Lithuania and abroad. In recent years, his professional focus has shifted towards animation directing.
