Movie Description
Told through the inquisitive eyes of 12-year-old Kovas, Motherland is a lyrical drama about a boy discovering the complexities of an independent society. Shortly after the fall of the USSR, Kovas’ mother Viktorija returns to Lithuania with her American-born son to reclaim her father’s estate. Her ex-lover escorts the family through the crumbling countryside, but when they find her land occupied by several impoverished families, they must consider how far they are willing to go to take back their past.
