Movie Description

The portrait of Vanagas tells the story of Adolfas Ramanauskas-Vanagas, one of the most famous post-war partisan leaders in Lithuania. He was fighting and hiding in the woods with his family for 11 years, was betrayed and killed in extremely cruel circumstances by the Soviets. The film, based on Vanagas’s diaries and testimonies from his relatives, tries to reconstruct the world of this freedom fighter, convey the strength of his spirit and subtle nuances of his personality. However, all this is a background for artistic imagination of the painter Mantas Petravičius who is painting a portrait of Vanagas in his studio and going on mysterious trips to the places where Vanagas hid and fought.
