As humans struggle against time, trying to preserve paintings, the bodies of the dead, and their own memories, microscopic fungi invade their carefully protected spaces. They remind us that everything changes and must decay in order to be reborn. 

The film tells a story of transformation using fungi as a metaphor. First, they devour our objects, then they devour us. And this is inevitable. Yet under the microscope, there is a glimmer of hope: the unstoppable growth of fungus is ultimately a sublime victory over death.

Aistė Žegulytė was born in 1986. She studied photography and later film directing. During her Master's studies, she completed a traineeship at the Krzysztof Kieslowski Film School in Poland. Since graduating, she has been involved in various film art projects and film education initiatives.

Her debut feature-length documentary, Animus Animalis (2018), was successfully screened at numerous international festivals and won the Silver Crane Award for Best Documentary Film of 2019/2020.

 From 2019 to 2025, Aistė  worked on her second feature-length documentary, Holy Destructors. The film had its world premiere at the IDFA Envision competition in 2025, where it won the award for best directing. It was then screened at the Black Nights Film Festival in Tallinn, where it also won the award for best Baltic documentary film.
