Movie Description

Outside the Ark. VESPER, a 13-year old tomboy — impatient, tough-as-nails and self-taught bio-hacker scavenges for roots and maggots to eat, accompanied by a grumpy, constantly speaking DRONE. This drone is actually her father, DARIUS (40s), who is paralyzed and on life support, controlling the machine from bed.

Vesper would rather be in her DIY bio-lab, experimenting with genetic creations. She dreams that her bio-hacking skills would help her escape their harsh life and to get them into the Ark. She wants to unlock the patented seeds of the ARK to prove it that she’s worth to be taken to the Ark. To her father, she’s naive. This suffering is their fate, pre-determined from birth. 

One day, Vesper finds a mysterious, elegant woman wandering the woods, injured and disoriented. The woman, CAMELLIA (20s), was flying from the ARK when her passenger jet crashed. She is desperate to find her missing father ELIAS. Vesper makes a deal with her: She will house Camellia and help her search IF Camellia takes Vesper and her Father to the Ark. 

Soon though, Vesper and Darius discover that the neighbor JONAS (40s) — a lecherous creep who harvests his many children’s blood in exchange for seeds — is responsible for Camellia’s jet crash. He murdered Elias to cover it up. Vesper does not reveal this information right away for fear that it will jeopardize her deal with Camellia. Plus, she is fascinated by this cultured woman; by her grace, her femininity, and her stories about the wonders of the Ark.  

But Camellia has a secret too: she is a JUG (genetically created being). There was never a way she could get Vesper into the Ark. Still, Vesper senses something exceptional about Camellia, so she takes a sample of her DNA… discovers that encrypted inside are THE PATENTS FOR ALL OF THE ARK’S SEEDS and the way to unlock them. Elias smuggled them out inside the intelligent jug he created, Camellia. 

With these patents, Vesper can unlock all of the seeds to grow limitless food, and even share the codes with others to loosen the Ark’s iron grip. Before the trio can act though, Jonas discovers Camellia and alerts the Ark. Soon, FACELESS SOLDIERS arrive to recapture the priceless data, leading to a tense, violent showdown in the swamps that ultimately forces Vesper’s Father and Camellia to sacrifice themselves. In the end, Vesper survives, still in possession of the seeds and patents. With these, she has, finally, the ability to take control of her fate and spread the seeds of hope to the other outcasts of the world.
